Application and Installation
Were should grout colorant be used?
On grout that is discolored, stained, faded, uneven, or blotchy, provided the tile and grout are otherwise in sound condition.
Are there areas where grout colorant is not recommended?
Thi product is not intended to repair cracked, missing, deteriorated, or failing grout. Any damaged grout should be properly repaired before applying the colorant and sealer.
What grout types are compatible?
Cement, epoxy, acrylic, urethane, and other premixed grout types.
Can it be used in wet or submerged areas?
Yes. When properly applied and fully cured, it is suitable for wet, submerged, and heavy-traffic areas.
Are there any use limitations?
This product is not recommended for areas exposed to harsh chemicals, high heat, aggressive cleaning practices, or demanding environments such as commercial kitchens or veterinary areas.
How is Grout Colorant & Sealer applied?
Apply directly to grout joints and spread evenly with a brush or applicator. For best results, apply thin, even coats and minimize contact with the tile surface. (See data sheet 65449 for further details.)
How many coats are required?
One coat is typically sufficient to recolor grout. Additional coats may be needed when making a significant color change, such as changing from a dark grout color to a lighter one.
How long between coats?
Allow 2–24 hours between coats.
How is cleanup performed?
After approximately 2 hours, lightly dampen the tile surface, allow it to sit for about 5 minutes, then gently scrub to remove excess colorant from the tile.
When can the area return to service?
Allow approximately 6 hours before light traffic, 24 hours before heavy traffic, 3 days before shower use, and 14 days before submerged applications.
Can the product be removed after application if needed?
Once the Grout Colorant & Sealer has dried and fully cured, it is intended to remain in place and cannot be easily removed. Test in a small, inconspicuous area before full application to confirm the desired color and appearance.
Does it work on natural stone installations or sensitive surfaces?
Yes, it may be used on natural stone and other sensitive surfaces. Use care during application and cleanup, and test in a small, inconspicuous area before full application to confirm compatibility and appearance.
Does grout need to be cleaned before applying Grout Colorant & Sealer?
Yes! Before applying Grout Colorant & Sealer the area should be thoroughly cleaned of all dirt, debris, and residue. Allow the area to fully dry before applying.
How much area does one bottle cover?
Coverage will vary based on tile size, grout joint width, and application technique. A 7.0 fl. oz bottle can cover anywhere from approximately 35 sq ft on 1” x 1” tile to more than 800 sq ft on 24” x 24” tile, depending on the installation. For the most accurate estimate, refer to the coverage chart in the product datasheet. Actual coverage may vary depending on job site conditions and application methods.

Yes. It contains antimicrobial technology that helps inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria on the treated surface.
How many colors are available?
It is available in the full range of 40 standard LATICRETE grout colors.
Does the product carry a warranty?
The product includes a 1-year product-only warranty. It is not included as part of the LATICRETE system warranty.
Packaging, Storage & Shelf Life
How is the product packaged?
The product is packaged in individual 7.0 fl oz bottles with an easy twist-top applicator designed to help place the colorant precisely into the grout joint.
What is the shelf life?
The shelf life is 18 months when unopened. Once opened, use the product within 6 months.
What are the storage requirements?
Store in a cool, dry location between 40°F and 75°F.
What safety precautions should be followed?
As with many installation products, avoid eye contact and ingestion, and follow all instructions on the product label and safety data sheet. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including gloves and eye protection, during use.
Is the product flammable or regulated for transport?
No. The product is not flammable and is not subject to shipping restrictions.
